Celebrate the legacy of one of archery’s greatest pioneers at the 9th Annual Fred Bear Day, happening March 8th, 2026, at Kirtland Community College in Grayling, Michigan. This three‑day gathering honors the life, influence, and enduring spirit of Fred Bear—a legendary bowhunter, conservationist, and founder of Bear Archery.
Each year, Fred Bear Day brings together hunters, archers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts from across the country to pay tribute to the man who helped shape modern bowhunting. The roots of this celebration run deep in Grayling, where Fred Bear moved his archery company in 1947, ultimately becoming the region’s largest employer and a beloved figure in the local community. His birthday, March 5, has long been recognized as an annual day of remembrance, featuring traditions such as the iconic 21‑arrow (or 21‑whistling arrow) salute, a hallmark of the event’s rich history.
